THE WEIGHT OF BECOMING

Suspended in a circle, her wings heavy, almost dissolving, she is neither falling nor flying. She is walking through the world we live in, the ring that limits our potential - carrying the weight of her wings, holding the tension as she moves. Her wings cannot unfold within the ring. Her nakedness hides nothing, protects nothing — only herself. The crack in her head shows the mark her walk has left. Only when she steps out will she finally be able to spread her wings and ascend.

This sculpture speaks of the moment when protection becomes burden, when strength is forged through corrosion, when transformation hurts — and liberates in the end. Rust. Patina. Strength and fragility. Nothing polished, because growth never is.

Mixed media (65x60cm): patina of oxidized copper and iron, stiffened textile, soapstone, clay, wood
